The Crossed Puff Stitch is a
beautiful advanced crochet stitch that stands
out. Some people, however, seem to have some
problems working the pattern out.
It is really quite simple once
you know how to do the Puff Stitch. You actually make two Puff
Stitches. The only difference is that you don't move forward to
the next single crochet, but backwards to the skipped single
crochet stitch, thus the single crochet in between two Crossed
Puff Stitches.
The steps for crocheting the
crossed puff stitch are broken down as much as possible so
that they are as easy to follow.
. . . And keep in mind
that it is just another Puff Stitch.
Crossed Puff
Stitch

Crossed Puff Stitch), then pick up your yarn from the
back and pull a loop through to the front.
- Next YO and insert
the hook again in the same skipped sc from front to
back, pick up the yarn from the back again and pull a
loop through to the front again. Make sure loops are
even. (Do this in total 4 times).
- Then YO and draw
through all 9 loops on hook. (Crossed Puff Stitch
complete).
Step
4: repeat from*, dc in last
sc.
Row
3-5: Ch 1,
turn: sc in each stitch across.
Make a small sample
first. This will give you a little practice. ... And as you can
see on the picture the Crossed Puff Stitch is a beautiful thick
and puffy stitch. It would make a gorgeous throw-over on the
end of your bed made from a soft fluffy wool in a
matching colour to your quilt cover.
